Sewer Camera Inspection & Video Locator: Santa Rosa, Windsor & Healdsburg

Also serving Cloverdale, Geyserville & Fulton.

When a drain keeps clogging or multiple fixtures run slow, guessing wastes money. A sewer camera inspection allows us to see deep inside your main line. Bowen Plumbing uses high-definition video to pinpoint the exact location and depth of the problem—whether it’s tree roots, a crushed pipe, or a belly in the line—so we can fix it right the first time.

Stop guessing, see what’s actually in the line

A video pipe inspection shows what a snake can’t: the condition of the pipe walls, whether a joint has separated, whether roots are intruding, and whether you’re dealing with a structural issue like a belly (low spot) or offset.

Best use case: recurring clogs, multiple fixtures draining slowly, sewer odors, or any time you want answers before hydro jetting or a major repair.

Signs you may need a camera inspection

  • Recurring clogs in sinks, tubs, showers, or toilets
  • Multiple drains slow or backing up at the same time
  • Gurgling, bubbling toilets, or intermittent sewer odors
  • A recent sewer backup or overflow
  • Older home with unknown sewer line condition
  • Pre-purchase “sewer scope” for a home

What a sewer line camera inspection can find

The camera shows the problem and the pipe condition, so the next step is based on evidence, not a hunch.

Tree root intrusion

Roots enter at joints or cracks and snag paper and debris, creating repeat clogs

Grease and sludge buildup

Sticky coatings narrow the pipe and keep catching more debris, especially in kitchen lines.

Scale and mineral deposits

Buildup that roughens the pipe interior and reduces flow, common in older systems.

Cracked, collapsed, or offset pipes

Structural failures that cleaning alone can’t fix, often need targeted repair or replacement.

Separated joints / failing connections

Open joints invite roots and let waste snag, leading to recurring mainline symptoms.

Bellies (low spots)

A sagging section holds water and solids like a little pond in the pipe, then clogs again and again.

How the video pipe inspection works

We access the line through an existing cleanout, or the best available entry point, then run a high-resolution camera through the pipe to locate the issue and confirm pipe condition.

Heads up: If there’s an active backup, we may need to restore flow first so the camera can see clearly.

What you can expect

  1. Quick symptom review and access check
  2. Camera run to locate the blockage or defect
  3. Plain-language explanation of what we found
  4. Clear next-step recommendation

Next steps may include professional drain cleaning, hydro jetting, targeted repair, or in some cases sewer line replacement.

Sewer Camera Inspection FAQ

Do I need a camera inspection for one clogged sink?
Not always. If it’s a one-time clog, standard clearing may be enough. A camera becomes valuable when clogs repeat, more than one fixture is affected, you smell sewer odors, or you want proof before hydro jetting or repair work.
Can the camera find tree roots?
Yes. Roots are one of the most common causes of recurring mainline issues, especially when joints have opened or a section is damaged.
Will a camera inspection fix the clog?
The camera is for diagnosis. If we find a blockage, we’ll recommend the right clearing method, such as drain cleaning or hydro jetting, and explain why.
Should I do a sewer scope before buying a house?
If the home is older or you want fewer surprises, yes. A sewer scope can reveal roots, bellies, offsets, and damaged sections that won’t show up during a normal walk-through.
