Sewer Line Repair & Replacement: Santa Rosa, Windsor & Healdsburg

Also serving Geyserville & Fulton.

A sewer line problem doesn’t stay small. One slow drain turns into three, a toilet starts bubbling, and the whole house feels like it’s holding its breath. Bowen Plumbing provides complete sewer services—from main line cleaning and hydro jetting to spot repairs and full lateral replacements. We diagnose based on what we see with a camera, not guesses.

Common red flags

  • Multiple drains slowing together
  • Toilet gurgles when a sink runs
  • Odors indoors or at the cleanout
  • Backups that return after clearing

Signs you may have a sewer line issue

If you’re seeing any of these, it’s time to get eyes on the line:

A sewer line is the home’s main exit route. When it narrows or collapses, everything upstream starts arguing.

  • Multiple drains slowing at the same time
  • Toilet bubbles or gurgles when a sink/shower runs
  • Sewage odor inside or outside
  • Repeated backups, especially after rain or heavy use
  • Water backing up in tubs/showers when you flush
  • Wet spots in the yard near the cleanout path
  • “We cleared it last time” turning into “it came back again”

Sewer line services we provide

We’ll recommend the right next step based on what the line is doing and what the pipe can safely handle.

Sewer camera inspections

A camera inspection is the fastest way to stop guessing. We use it to identify:

  • Root intrusion
  • Heavy buildup and scale
  • Cracks, offsets, or separated joints
  • Bellies (low spots holding water)
  • Collapsed sections or major defects

Best for: recurring clogs, pre-purchase checks, or when symptoms point to a mainline issue.

Sewer cleaning and drain clearing

If the line is blocked, we clear it and restore flow. This is often the first step before deciding what comes next.

Best for: one-time obstructions, soft blockages, and emergency backups.

Hydro jetting for sewer and drain lines

Hydro jetting uses high-pressure water to scrub the inside of the pipe and flush debris out. It’s ideal when the issue is buildup, not a single “object clog.”

Best for:

  • Grease and sludge layers
  • Heavy buildup that causes recurring clogs
  • Lines that keep slowing down over time

If the pipe is fragile or compromised, we’ll recommend the safest approach first.

Sewer line repair and replacement options

When the camera shows structural problems, cleaning alone won’t fix it. We’ll explain what we found and what options make sense, which may include:

  • Spot repairs for isolated damage
  • Section replacement if a portion of the line has failed
  • Full replacement when the line is at end-of-life or has multiple failures

We’ll walk you through tradeoffs in cost, disruption, and long-term reliability, then help you choose the path that fits your home and your goals.

Common causes of sewer line problems in this area

Root intrusion
Root intrusion through older joints or small cracks
Ground movement
Ground movement causing offsets or separations
Grease buildup
Grease buildup from kitchen lines
Older pipe
Older pipe materials reaching end-of-life
Improper slope
Improper slope or a “belly” that holds water and collects solids
Flushing wipes
Flushing wipes or non-flushable items that don’t break down

What we will / won’t do

What we will do

  • Diagnose with a camera when needed
  • Clear the line and restore flow quickly
  • Explain findings in plain language (with visuals when possible)
  • Recommend repairs that solve the cause, not the symptom
  • Provide notes/photos when useful for property managers or insurance documentation

What we won’t do

  • Pretend a recurring sewer issue is “bad luck”
  • Push a major replacement if the camera shows a simpler fix
  • Use chemical drain treatments as a solution

Sewer Line Services FAQ

Should I call if only one sink is slow?
Not always. One slow fixture is often a local drain issue. If multiple fixtures are slow or you see gurgling, odors, or backups, that’s more likely mainline.
What does a camera inspection tell you that snaking doesn’t?
A snake restores flow. A camera shows why it failed, roots, cracks, offsets, bellies, heavy scale, or collapse.
Can you remove roots?
Often, yes, depending on severity and pipe condition. If roots return quickly, the line may have an opening or defect that needs repair.
Why do my drains back up more during rain?
That can happen with compromised lines, root intrusion, or issues that worsen when the ground is saturated. A camera inspection is usually the quickest way to confirm the cause.
Do you handle emergency sewer backups?
Yes. If sewage is backing up, call immediately.
